Horned Lark on a Poopy Perch

Horned Lark on a poopy perchHorned Lark on a poopy perch – Nikon D300, f7.1, 1/1250, ISO 640, +0.3 EV, Nikkor 200-400mm VR with 1.4x TC at 400mm, natural light

Most of the Horned Larks I photograph are perched on rocks or boulders, this one is perched on a dried pile of Bison poop. Some might think this is a crappy perch and they would be right!

What a load of crap! 😉
Horned Larks are very attractive birds, and you captured this one very well – in spite of all the crap.

Dale, it is a load of crap and I didn’t get all of it in the frame! 😉 Thanks for commenting on my crappy image.

You may not have had a wide enough lens to get all the crap.

Excellent punning, Mia! =) I noticed that Horned Larks in the Nebraska Sandhills regularly perched on cow pies, and then would feed on the insects in and under them. What a crappy buffet! =)

Thank you Matt, the post had me giggling last night while I created it and some of the crappy comments have me laughing today! A Crappy Buffet is right, maybe the birds like Bugs a la Manure!
