Bald Eagle lift offBald Eagle lift off – Nikon D300, f6.3, 1/800, ISO 640, +0.3 EV, Nikkor 200-400mm VR with 1.4x TC at 264mm, natural light, not baited

While in southwestern Montana last week I did see several Bald Eagles and this adult was most obliging as it perched on a conifer in the light of the rising sun. A Black-billed Magpie wasn’t too happy about the Bald Eagle being in its neighborhood and the magpie pestered the eagle for several minutes before flying away. The Bald Eagle pretty much ignored the much smaller magpie, it even ignored us with our two large lenses pointed at it.

After a while the Bald Eagle fluffed its feathers, stretched its wings, lifted off and flew into the clear blue sky.

Life is good.

PS, I planned to post about the wrens in the nesting tree in Idaho but time got away from me yesterday, I hope to do that post tomorrow.
