American Oystercatcher in sea foam

American Oystercatcher in sea foamAmerican Oystercatcher in sea foam – Nikon D200, handheld, f7.1, 1/1000, ISO 320, Nikkor 80-400mm VR at 400mm, natural light

Just a simple post of an American Oystercatcher about to be awash in sea foam at Fort De Soto’s north beach taken back in September of 2008. Looking at the waters of the Gulf again reminded me of how refreshing they could be on a hot day photographing birds on the west coast of Florida.

Happy Friday the 13th!

About Mia McPherson

I am a nature lover, wildlife watcher and a bird photographer. I first become serious about bird photography when I moved to Florida in 2004 and it wasn’t long before I was hooked (addicted is more like it). My move to the Salt Lake area of Utah was a great opportunity to continue observing their behavior and to pursue my passion for photographing birds.

  1. Beautiful bird – his bill is massive, and I like the bright orange color of it.

  2. Those Oyster Catchers are so elegant looking…and ANYTHING with sea foam looks good to me!!!

  3. such a wonderfully colorful guy!!! beautiful capture as always!!
