Canada Goose and Canada Goose hybrid in flight

Images of ducks and geese suspected of being hybrids and domesticated waterfowl species.

Some duck and geese species can hybridize with other species. Mallards are especially well known for hybridizing with quite a few other ducks species including Northern Pintails, American Black Ducks, Mottled Ducks, Northern Shovelers, Cinnamon Teals, American Wigeons, Green-winged Teals, domestic mallards and Gadwalls. Hybridizations of Mallard x American Black Duck and Mallard x Mottled Duck are having a negative effect on the Mottled and American Black Duck populations and may reduce their “pure” populations significantly.

Canada Geese can hybridize with wild geese such as Snow Geese and they can also hybridize with domestic geese.

Some of the hybrids are fertile and some are not.
