  • White-tailed Deer are reddish-brown in the spring and summer and turns to a grey-brown throughout the fall and winter. The deer can be recognized by the characteristic white underside to its tail.
  • In North America, White-tailed Deer are widely distributed east of the Rocky Mountains as well as in southwestern Arizona and most of Mexico, except Lower California.

  • Female White-tailed Deer give birth to one to three spotted young, known as fawns, in mid- to late spring, generally in May or June.
  • White-tailed Deer can live to 16 years in the wild but they usually don’t live past 10 years of age.
