I was going back through some of the images I took this past summer and came across this photo of a Greater Sage-Grouse I photographed in July.

Finding the Greater Sage-Grouse can be difficult because they can blend into their habitat so well but the flock I photographed were close to the road and out where they were visible. I was fortunate to see Greater Sage-Grouse several times last summer in the Centennial Valley of Montana and in Clark County, Idaho.
Even when I am not aiming my lens at these large grouse I am enchanted by their shape, plumage, and the habitat they live in. I hope that one day I will be able to visit a lek while they are displaying. I need to put that on my bucket list.

Hi Mia–just did a small presentation on the Greater Sage-Grouse. Amazed to find many people not aware of their endangered species listing, and that oil and gas industry and Fed ignoring placing them on list to line their pockets with possible kick backs instead. What;s new huh?
