As 2014 comes to an end I know I have tons to be grateful for in my personal life, my ever growing passion for bird and nature photography and life in general.
I continue to be gobsmacked by birds, their shapes, their abilities, their behaviors, their colors and the wide range of species I see in a year. They enchant and delight me.
I am blessed that I have family and friends who understand and support my passion for bird and nature photography even though it sometimes appears that I am 100% addicted to it. Alright; to be honest they know I am.
I spend a lot of time in the field surrounded by birds, wildlife and the most amazing views of wild places and I could not be any happier about that. Nature heals, invigorates and inspires me.
I’m excited about what 2015 might bring, what wonders I will see and capture with my camera. I love what I do and my subjects too.
Life… is amazing.

Hello Mia – I want to say a huge thank you for your beautiful work. I love this area. It is a wild beauty that, like you, has me feeling at peace and at times invigorates! I live not too far from the Nature Conservancy in Layton, and walk near there with my dog. The birds we encounter are amazing and I feel honored to watch them. Just last week a small hawk was eating its prey in my neighbors’ yard, and with binoculars, I was able to see its markings. From what I could find in my bird books, it looked very much like a Peregrine Falcon. I thought, no way, it couldn’t be! Internet search was next and that’s how I found you! In one of your earlier posts you wrote about Peregrines in Farmington Bay, so, maybe it was a young Peregrine. What an joy to watch him! I grew up here in the west, and my husband is from New England, so the wilderness here looks barren to him. But for me it’s the wide open spaces! Gobsmacked, indeed! Here’s to 2015 being a beautiful year in the wild!

It’s been a tough year for me as I help my daughter (age 24) through two serious health issues.
Most days I don’t have time to look at the blogs I follow. But I look at your posts nearly daily.
They calm me and keep me centered.
Your photos remind me of the grandeur and miraculous power of nature, a power I’m counting on.
