Just a quick post this morning from Wayne County, Utah of a Wild Turkey hen I saw feeding near a small pond on the way up to Boulder Top yesterday. The road all the way up was closed near Miller Lake but on the way back down I spotted this lone hen feeding at the edge of the pond. I wondered why she was alone and why there weren’t any chicks with her but I was happy to see her any way.
It was very windy here yesterday, hope it calms down today

EC, she may have lost her chicks, I don’t think they would have hid from me but would have followed her out to feed.
She is indeed beautiful. And I hope her family was ‘in hiding’. From you, not her…
What beautiful, soft, subtle colors! She’s a real beauty,! Nice to see such a plump, healthy-looking bird. Love the barest hints of blue in her sweet face….I say “sweet” face knowing full well she can be hell on wheels if she decides to give chase!!!
