This Bass weathervane is one of those things. I was photographing displaying male Great-tailed Grackles and the weathervane caught my attention.<\/p>\n<p>Weather vanes have been used for about 2,000 years which is a long time before they became <a href=\"https:\/\/www.architecturaldigest.com\/story\/its-time-to-remember-weathervanes-one-of-americas-oldest-crafts\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">symbols of Americana<\/span><\/a>. This Bass weathervane isn&#8217;t all that old but it looks like it is because of the greenish patina on the copper. The drips of bird whitewash probably help with that too.<\/p>\n<p>Nature is often featured in weathervanes. From fish, deer, whales, beavers, dragonflies, and birds weathervanes are eye catching and ornamental.
