Two mornings ago I spotted a Least Chipmunk crawl up onto a rock and internally squealed with delight as I took my first of season images of the little fur ball. I don’t get to see Least Chipmunks during the winter. Even though I have already seen some this spring these are the first photos of chipmunks that I have taken this year.<\/p>\n

Least Chipmunks are the smallest of the chipmunks in North America but they have huge cute appeal for me. I stop to photograph them whenever I can plus I love watching them quickly moving around in their habitat.<\/p>\n

This diminutive Least Chipmunk didn’t give me a whole lot of different poses while on top of this rock but later it moved to another rock that was farther away. It looked like the chipmunk wanted to cross the road because it kept running back and forth towards me. Perhaps it had young that were across the road. I really don’t know but I didn’t want to impede its movement.<\/p>\n

It was such fun to have a Least Chipmunk in my viewfinder again because I hadn’t photographed one of these little, striped fur balls since last fall. I’m looking forward to focusing on them as often as possible this year and watching their playful antics too.<\/p>\n
