Today I’m sharing a close up photo of a young Red-bellied Woodpecker<\/span><\/a> with an adult taken in my good friend Steve Creek’s<\/span><\/a> yard at a feeder.<\/p>\n

Steve and I found the driftwood that the suet feeder is attached to on the shoreline of the Arkansas River which isn’t far from Steve’s home. The feeder had only been up about an hour and a half when these two Red-bellied Woodpeckers flew in.<\/p>\n

I deeply appreciated seeing the young woodpecker with the adult male, especially so close to Father’s Day. As much as I would have liked to have shared this particular image this coming Sunday which is Father’s Day, I couldn’t resist posting it today. My excitement about this series of Red-bellied Woodpeckers has been reaching a critical level.<\/p>\n

I always loved seeing this species in my garden in Virginia and in the wild in other locations in the East. I don’t see them in Utah and I have missed them tremendously.<\/p>\n

What is it like for me having the fledgling and the adult Red-bellied Woodpecker in a close up photo?<\/p>\n

It is the frosting on my cupcake!<\/p>\n

Life is<\/em> good.<\/p>\n
