Today, I am sharing a simple photo of a Canada Goose splash landing at one of my local ponds. This image was taken on a sunny afternoon almost one year ago.<\/p>\n

The last time I shared a Canada Goose photo<\/span><\/a>, we were heading into fall, and I mentioned that this year I have felt out of sync. That was due in part to spending almost two months away from Utah and because I have been dealing with the loss of my mother.<\/p>\n

I had hoped that going into autumn I would start to feel more in sync. Quite frankly, I can’t say that has happened. I still feel off balance. Making the best of my new normal is about all I can do, for now, anyway.<\/p>\n

What could be more normal than photographing Canada Geese at my local pond?<\/p>\n

During this time of year, I frequently see and hear these geese. In just the past week, during my morning or afternoon walks, I’ve noticed a steady increase in the number of these geese at the pond.<\/p>\n

You know what? That excites me. As abundant as Canada Geese<\/span><\/a> are across the country, I still adore them.<\/p>\n

Perhaps it’s because, along with Mallards, they are the first waterfowl I remember seeing and being able to identify as a child.<\/p>\n

Additionally, I’ve always believed that as a bird photographer, I can create images of ‘common’ birds that are interesting or uncommonly beautiful. I make that as much a part of my goals as a bird photographer as I possibly can.<\/p>\n
