While going through my archives this morning, I found this photo of a Black-crowned Night Heron in flight. It was taken in the marsh at Farmington Bay WMA in 2021.<\/p>\n

I was going to write a completely different post this morning, but when I saw this night heron photo, I wondered why I had never shared it before.<\/p>\n

I love the dark water in the background, which was shaded by marsh vegetation.<\/p>\n

The flight pose of the heron is wonderful, as is the position of the heron’s wings.<\/p>\n

I had a nice view of the cherry-red eye of the heron.<\/p>\n

Plus, the morning light was lovely.<\/p>\n

In my opinion, there’s nothing not to like about this Black-crowned Night Heron<\/span><\/a> photo.<\/p>\n

So, why hadn’t I shared this Black-crowned Night Heron image here before?<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The answer, simply put, is that life was<\/em> and still is<\/em> busy.<\/p>\n

Here is another interesting fact: I have so many unseen photos in my archives that if I stopped photographing today (which isn’t going to happen), I could share new images and the authentic stories behind them for years.<\/p>\n

This one heron from that winter in 2021 could provide me with more than a week’s worth of posts if I edited the other photos I took of it. Plus, I photographed other night herons that same morning.<\/p>\n

When I look at the rest of the birds I photographed that day at Farmington Bay WMA in the morning and the ones later in the afternoon at my local pond, I know I could share more than a month’s worth of posts about that one day alone.<\/p>\n

Opening my image archive folders sometimes feels like Christmas morning; I uncover all sorts of gems and treasures.<\/p>\n

It has always paid of for me to take as many images as I want of every subject each and every time I am in the field. Always.<\/em><\/p>\n

Life is<\/em> good.<\/p>\n
