Back in November of 2017, I took this photo of an adult Golden Eagle flying past a ridge in Box Elder County. I’m not sure why I never shared it until today.<\/p>\n

Maybe I didn’t share the photo because I didn’t much care for the shadow on the underside of the extended left wing. I’m not certain of that.<\/p>\n

But I do like this image because it shows the eagle in flight with habitat in the background. This is the kind of habitat I would expect to find this eagle species in.<\/p>\n

Or maybe I didn’t share this photo because I didn’t have direct eye contact with the Golden Eagle.<\/p>\n

The thing is, I appreciate how the eagle isn’t focused on me. Instead, the eagle seemed to be entirely focused on something outside of this frame.<\/p>\n

Another reason I may not have shared this image before is that I could have critiqued my own image too harshly.<\/p>\n

Quite frankly, that seems the most likely to me; I am aware that I can be my own harshest critic.<\/p>\n

Whatever the reason, I decided to share this Golden Eagle<\/span><\/a> photo today because I like it. I came across this file while I was looking through some images I took in 2017.<\/p>\n

I spotted the eagle way out in Box Elder County, on the gravel road that goes to Locomotive Springs. When the eagle lifted off and flew past me, I was able to take this frame-filling image of the large, majestic raptor.<\/p>\n

The winter storm over the weekend kept me housebound. We didn’t get much snow at all in the valley but the mountains got some. Once again this morning there are thick clouds overhead but tomorrow the weather looks like it might be good for getting out into the field. I need to get out, cabin fever has set in.<\/p>\n

Life is<\/em> good. It is better when I am in the field with the birds.<\/p>\n
