It started off rainy yesterday morning, but later on, I was delighted to take images of female and male Downy Woodpeckers from the comfort of Steve’s deck<\/span><\/a>.<\/p>\n

I was over the moon while taking this photo of the female Downy Woodpecker because most of the time I have males in my viewfinder. The males are gorgeous, but I think the females are too.<\/p>\n

This female woodpecker landed on this branch and posed briefly before she moved up to the suet feeder. Even though it was cloudy, I still had enough light to capture the images I wanted of her.<\/p>\n

Forty minutes later, a male Downy Woodpecker landed on the same branch, in almost the exact same spot. You can see three holes on the branch in both images.<\/p>\n

The male woodpecker seemed to be on alert for something, but I couldn’t see what he was looking at. I’m simply happy he graced us with his presence long enough for both Steve and I to get photos of him.<\/p>\n

Since I adore Downy Woodpeckers, I’m very happy that I took both of these photos.<\/p>\n

I am taking so many photos here of many different birds, animals, and insects that I might have to do two posts a day just to keep up with them all!<\/p>\n

Life is<\/em> good.<\/p>\n
