I’m seeing a few lizards in my yard here in Oklahoma including this spiffy looking racerunner lizard. I don’t know which species it is yet though.<\/p>\n

When I saw this lizard I ran and grabbed my camera and leaned against the porch railing to steady it. I knew I probably wouldn’t have time to run to my Jeep and grab my tripod so I made do. It worked out too!<\/p>\n

I’ve narrowed the identification down to two lizards found in this area. I believe it is either a Six-lined Racerunner, Aspidoscelis sexlineatus<\/em>, or Prairie Racerunner, Aspidoscelis sexlineatus<\/em> ssp. viridis. <\/em>I’ve uploaded the image to iNaturalist and I hope that someone there helps me with this racerunner identification. I am personally leaning towards Six-lined Racerunner<\/span><\/a>.<\/p>\n

Yesterday, I saw another larger lizard that looked like this one only the green was more vivid. Love those green stripes!<\/p>\n

Feel free to jump in with identification assistance if you can.<\/p>\n

It is pretty neat seeing so much wildlife right outside the backdoor here. I suspect it is because the habitat includes lots of variation in native plants and isn’t a sterile monoculture type lawn.<\/p>\n

At any rate, I am trying hard to learn about the new creatures I am seeing. It is time to unpack some of my guide books!<\/p>\n
