I finally decided to share my best Scissor-tailed Flycatcher photos that I’ve taken since my move. I created a gallery and hope to get more photos of them soon.<\/p>\n

The first two photos were taken at Sequoyah National Wildlife Refuge<\/span><\/a> in April, in the wonderful company of my dear friend and fellow photographer, Steve Creek<\/span><\/a>.<\/p>\n

Scissor-tailed flycatchers had just barely arrived from their spring migration when I was there. They are incredibly beautiful birds with floopy flight patterns. I think their long tails have something to do with that floopiness.<\/p>\n

Trying to get photos of them wasn’t easy. At all.<\/p>\n

I took these two images of the Scissor-tailed Flycatchers, and I am happy with them. To be perfectly blunt, though, I haven’t gotten my dream shots of this flycatcher species yet.<\/p>\n

The shots I want are closer, in flight, and landing with their tails and wings spread out. A woman can dream, right?<\/p>\n

My final Scissor-tailed Flycatcher photo today was taken at Tishomingo National Wildlife Refuge<\/span><\/a> in May. Two flycatchers were chasing each other low to the road when I drove up.<\/p>\n

Both of them landed on what I believe were power lines and stayed there until after I drove away. I could see them chasing each other again in my rearview mirror!<\/p>\n

These spectacular flycatchers show up where I live practically every day. I just can’t seem to get photos of them here, though. I’m going to keep trying for those dream shots.<\/p>\n
