While at Mount Magazine State Park<\/span><\/a> in Arkansas two days ago, I photographed a White-tailed Deer doe biting her own derri\u00e8re, which made me laugh out loud. I laughed again when I viewed this image on my laptop screen.<\/p>\n

For anyone who could use a laugh, I thought I’d share this photo. I know I love to laugh.<\/p>\n

Mount Magazine State Park seems to have plenty of deer, and I photographed quite a few. I haven’t had time to go through all the deer and squirrel photos I took, but I wanted to start off with this one.<\/p>\n

This doe was hanging out with two other does and a fawn near the edge of the road. My dear friend and talented wildlife photographer, Steve Creek<\/span><\/a>, and I saw these deer on the way back to our campsite.<\/p>\n

The doe apparently had an itch that needed scratching. It seemed that the only way she could relieve it was by biting her own bottom.<\/p>\n

I could have come up with any number of captions for this image, but in the end, I decided to keep it rated PG.<\/p>\n

I still have hundreds of photos to go through from the past couple of days at the park.<\/p>\n

The temperatures up the mountain were cooler, offering a welcome respite from the hotter days at lower altitudes. Mount Magazine State Park also has very dark skies, which allows for exceptional views of the stars overhead.<\/p>\n

I saw birds, butterflies, insects, and more while at the park. I even had a Green June Beetle that seemed determined to land on my toes. Lichen-covered rocks, heavily forested areas, rocky bluffs, and grand views made the trip to the park very enjoyable.<\/p>\n

Life is<\/em> good.<\/p>\n
