Blue-gray Gnatcatcher landing on driftwood \u2013 Canon R7, f7.1, 1\/320, ISO 1250, Canon 100-400mm at 400mm, natural light<\/span><\/p>\nAround 8:40 a.m., a lovely little Blue-gray Gnatcatcher flew in to check out all the bird activity near and around the feeders of my friend and talented wildlife photographer, Steve Creek<\/span><\/a>.<\/p>\n We’ve been seeing and hearing Blue-gray Gnatcatchers in his yard for a couple of days now. This was the first time one flew in close enough for high-quality photos. The rest were simply too far away, and these are small birds.<\/p>\n I am delighted that the Blue-gray Gnatcatcher decided to land on a piece of driftwood for a few seconds. That gave me enough time to focus on it through my viewfinder and take a few images before it flew away.<\/p>\n Personally, I adore these tiny birds, even if they are flitty and hard to focus on. They are beautiful, and I love their soft calls<\/span><\/a>.<\/p>\n Earlier in the morning, before the sun rose, we had the Blue Supermoon, or Sturgeon Moon, in our viewfinders. I read that this lunar occurrence won’t happen again for thirty-seven years.<\/p>\n We had to wait until some thin, narrow cloud bands moved away before getting cloudless images of the Supermoon.<\/p>\n For a “blue” subject morning, I was feeling pretty happy!<\/p>\n Life is<\/em> good.<\/p>\n Mia<\/p>\n Click here<\/a><\/span> to see more of my Blue-gray Gnatcatcher photos plus facts and information about this species.
