This morning I’m sharing a simple hovering Ruby-throated Hummingbird photo. I took the image yesterday because I had a camera in my hand.<\/p>\n

I went outside hoping to take a photo of a Northern Mockingbird bathing in the birdbath, but the mockingbird flew off.<\/p>\n

Then I heard the buzz of a hummingbird\u2019s wings and aimed my lens at this bird instead.<\/p>\n

This is a different immature Ruby-throated Hummingbird than the one I shared here recently<\/span><\/a>. This one is more timid at the feeder and more skittish around me. I was very excited to take a series of shots of the hummingbird hovering close to the feeder.<\/p>\n

Because of the large rounded feather on the left side of this hummingbird’s neck, I believe he is a young male. I didn\u2019t see a glint of red in that feather, but I may not have had the right angle of light to notice the flash of red.<\/p>\n

I’ve been seeing an adult male Ruby-throated Hummingbird at the feeder the past few days but it is even more timid than this young one is.<\/p>\n

I hope I’ll be able to continue photographing the Ruby-throated Hummingbirds<\/span><\/a> for a while longer. Some are already heading to their overwintering grounds, and the rest will be migrating soon. I’ve had a blast having these hummingbirds in my viewfinder this year!<\/p>\n
