Happy Halloween! \ud83c\udf83 Today, I\u2019m sharing a black-and-white photo of a Common Raven calling out from a snowy mound with the Great Salt Lake stretched behind. Something about this scene feels like Halloween personified, mysterious, haunting, and just a bit wild.<\/p>\n

\"CommonCommon Raven Calling Out Halloween Secrets<\/span><\/p>\n

Ravens have always been creatures of folklore and legend, often seen as omens or messengers from the unknown. With their piercing eyes and that unforgettable call, they\u2019ve earned their spot as Halloween icons.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s easy to see why people once thought these birds held secrets beyond our understanding.<\/p>\n

But there\u2019s more to ravens than myths; they\u2019re incredibly smart. Ravens remember faces, especially those who\u2019ve wronged, or helped, them.<\/p>\n

If a raven takes a grudge, she or he may even pass it along to other ravens, warning them to steer clear of certain people. Quite the memory!<\/p>\n

I can relate, I\u2019ve got a pretty good memory myself. Let\u2019s say I can recall more than a few bird species, names, and faces, some better than others. Maybe that\u2019s part of why I admire ravens so much.<\/p>\n

Here\u2019s to this clever, darkly mysterious bird, a perfect match for Halloween!<\/p>\n
