I was delighted to photograph and observe this late fall White-breasted Nuthatch four days ago when it came to the seed feeder in the late afternoon.<\/p>\n

The nuthatch seemed a bit wary because a Northern Mockingbird has claimed this area as their territory and has been terrorizing nearly all the birds trying to come in for food. That mockingbird is making quite a few birds anxious.<\/p>\n

The White-breasted Nuthatches are still visiting the seed and suet feeders, but it has been a while since I\u2019ve seen a Red-breasted Nuthatch. They may still be coming in, and I\u2019m simply not hearing or seeing them.<\/p>\n

I am having a marvelous time photographing the White-breasted Nuthatches, observing them, and hearing their calls<\/span><\/a>.<\/p>\n

White-breasted Nuthatches are fascinating, beautiful little birds. They often fly to the feeders, grab a seed, and quickly fly away to eat it on a nearby tree branch. When they come in for suet, they tend to stay a bit longer and eat at the suet feeder. Other visits they grab a seed, fly away, and cache that seed to eat later.<\/p>\n

I\u2019d love to photograph these nuthatches in falling snow. Maybe that will happen this winter. I always hold onto hope for the images I dream about.<\/p>\n
