When I photographed this Fox Squirrel last week, I liked that he was standing up in nice light. Later, when I viewed the image on my laptop, I had to laugh.<\/p>\n

You might wonder why I laughed. It was because of the squirrel’s pose and how he had one foot forward, as if he were modeling for a photo shoot about stepping into the New Year.<\/p>\n

Yes, I know; that is me anthropomorphizing a bit. Hey, I’m only human, and I do that sometimes, especially when it makes me laugh. I love to laugh.<\/p>\n

And this squirrel photo did make me think about how close the New Year actually is. It’s closer than just around the corner; it is right there at the door!<\/p>\n

The Fox Squirrel<\/span><\/a> doesn’t care about the New Year, of course. <\/strong><\/h2>\n

Our calendar is nothing but a human construct for dates and time.<\/p>\n

I’m a little excited and anxious about the New Year. I am looking forward to the birds and wildlife I’ll photograph, as well as what I will learn in 2025.<\/p>\n

There are some things I think we should all be concerned about, including the climate crisis. That weighs heavily on my mind, not so much for me, but for my children, yours, and all of our grandchildren.<\/p>\n

When I gave birth to my sons, I thought we would be leaving the Earth in much better shape for future generations. How wrong was I?<\/p>\n

Even the squirrels know they need to prepare for the days ahead by creating safe, dry nests and ‘squirreling’ away food and nuts for future meals.<\/p>\n

Life is<\/em> good. However, it could be better for everyone and everything on the planet, much better. We have to care.<\/p>\n
