This sunlit, blooming Blackberry bramble caught my eye while I was walking along a forest edge earlier this week at Sequoyah National Wildlife Refuge.<\/p>\n

The dark, shadowed forest behind the brambles made the white flowers and spring green leaves glow in the sunlight.<\/p>\n

I simply couldn\u2019t pass up the opportunity to photograph the Blackberries, and there wasn\u2019t a single reason why I should have.<\/p>\n

Because I was on foot, I could get as close to the brambles as I wanted. And I did.<\/p>\n

I just watched where I stepped, since snakes are on the move right now, both venomous and nonvenomous.<\/p>\n

I took other photos of the Blackberries I found in the area, but I like the contrast of the shadowed background and the sunlit flowers and leaves in this image.<\/p>\n

I’ll be keeping an eye on these brambles because I wouldn’t mind munching on a berry or two. Of course, I’ll leave the rest for the birds and animals.<\/p>\n

I’m looking forward to the mulberries for the same reason. Just a berry or two for me, and the rest for my feathered friends.<\/p>\n

I ate both, like the feral child I was. I foraged while wandering quite often as a little girl. I’m not above foraging now, either.<\/p>\n

Life is<\/em> good.<\/p>\n
