This morning I\u2019m sharing a photo of blooming Indian Blanket, taken last week in mixed grass prairie habitat at Wichita Mountains National Wildlife Refuge.<\/p>\n

\"BloomingBlooming Indian Blanket in Comanche County, Oklahoma<\/span><\/p>\n

Even in the low light conditions when I took this photo, the yellow, orange, and red wildflowers seemed to glow.<\/p>\n

I believe the yellow flowers in the in the background are Tickseed, but I am not sure of the species.<\/p>\n

Indian Blanket grows naturally in northern Mexico and much of the southern and central United States. It can also be found in other parts of the U.S., as well as in Qu\u00e9bec and Ontario.<\/p>\n

What matters to me, though, is that while Indian Blanket is native to Arkansas and some parts of Oklahoma, it was introduced to Comanche County and Wichita Mountains National Wildlife Refuge through human activity.<\/p>\n

I’m still busy repairing the issues caused when something went wrong with my upload folder for March 2024. I have over 500 photos left to replace out of the 1,178 that got messed up when I moved my site. I’ll get there!<\/p>\n
