Yesterday morning’s sunny weather\u00a0felt lovely compared to Sunday which was gray, windy, rainy and snowy and maybe this male Red-winged Blackbird was feeling the difference in weather too. Farmington Bay Waterfowl Management Area is a wonderful place to find Red-winged Blackbirds along the road to Goose Egg Island. Yesterday the males were visible and displaying from the tops of cattails and phragmites while the females were less visible.<\/p>\n

Red-winged Blackbirds<\/span><\/a> are probably the most studied songbird in North America and they are found throughout Canada, the U.S., Mexico and Central America. The males are easily identifiable for even novice bird watchers with their flashy red and yellow epaulets and sleek black plumage.<\/p>\n

These blackbirds are a delight to the eyes and ears.<\/p>\n
