\"LateLate winter view of the Fremont River<\/span><\/p>\n

Just a simple image today of the Fremont River taken near Capitol Reef National Park last month. I haven’t had time to process many of the landscape images I took on that trip but hope to do that soon.<\/p>\n

Standing near the edge of the Fremont River made\u00a0me think about\u00a0the Fremont People<\/a><\/span> who long ago lived in the area, growing grains, creating amazing rock art<\/a><\/span> and\u00a0about how much I admire\u00a0them for how they existed in such a harsh environment.<\/p>\n

The Fremont River is named after John C. Fr\u00e9mont<\/a><\/span> who was a very interesting character. He was an explorer, military officer and politician.<\/p>\n

Archaeologists named the prehistoric Fremont culture after the Fremont River, as the first archaeological sites of the culture were discovered near its course.<\/p>\n

The geology of this area fascinates me with the layered formations and how they have eroded over the eons.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0Fremont River<\/a><\/span>\u00a0and the area’s history makes me feel like I have stepped back in time whenever I visit Capitol Reef and the surrounding areas.<\/p>\n

Life\u00a0is<\/em>\u00a0good.<\/p>\n
