I’m sharing two morning views of Sequoyah NWR taken early yesterday, then I’ll share a few thoughts about how today affects me.<\/p>\n

It was supposed to be partly cloudy at the refuge yesterday morning, but it turned out to be more cloudy than that. The upside? Those clouds helped create a stunning, colorful sunrise at the refuge<\/span><\/a>.<\/p>\n

I was at the Tuff Boat Ramp on the Arkansas River when the sun came up over the horizon. The pinks, purples, oranges, yellows, and blues in the sky were gorgeous.<\/p>\n

While I was at the Tuff Boat Ramp, a rainbow formed in the southwestern sky. I believe it was the longest lasting rainbow I\u2019ve ever seen. It was still visible when we arrived at the Lower Scarborough Slough. Of course, I had to take photos that showed the rainbow over the slough.<\/p>\n

While hope is the most common symbolic meaning of rainbows, they also represent renewal, transformation, connection, diversity, good luck, and joy, all rooted in their striking appearance after storms.<\/p>\n

On to today, the 4th of July.<\/h2>\n

I’m not celebrating today. It’s a rough day for me personally because two years ago, is when I lost my mother. I’ll always feel some grief and loss on the anniversary of her death.<\/p>\n

Mom would have loved these two photos. She always appreciated beautiful views and nature.<\/p>\n

There are other reasons why I won’t be celebrating today. I\u2019m not going to get into the details of \u201cwhy\u201d this morning, but that time is coming. In fact, it feels unavoidable.<\/p>\n

Life is<\/em> good.<\/p>\n
