Yesterday morning around 9 a.m., the Eastern Bluebird chicks finally took the leap and fledged from their nest. There were three of them.<\/p>\n

I thought there were only two chicks in the nest box, so when I saw a third one at the nest box entrance, I was surprised.<\/p>\n

The first two bluebird chicks that left the nest actually flew quite well. They flew out of the box and straight up into the nearby trees.<\/p>\n

The third chick’s exit wasn’t quite as graceful. It exited the nest, nearly fell to the ground, then fluttered away to join the rest of their family.<\/p>\n

It had to feel good to get out of that nest box. The temp was over 100 degrees yesterday. I wish these little ones the best and hope to get more photos of them in the coming days.<\/p>\n
