While at Sequoyah National Wildlife Refuge yesterday morning, I photographed this Common Hibiscus bloom with a bumble bee during one of my walks.<\/p>\n

\"CommonCommon Hibiscus and feeding bumble bee \u2013 Canon R7, handheld, f8, 1\/800, ISO 1250, +0.3 EV, Canon EF 100-400mm II at 400mm, natural light<\/span><\/p>\n

The Common Hibiscus<\/span><\/a>, also known as Rose of Sharon, is a nonnative flowering shrub that\u2019s native to East Asia. Yesterday, I saw it blooming all over the refuge.<\/p>\n

I was happy to see and photograph this bumble bee in the hibiscus. At first, I thought the bee was sleeping, but once I looked through my viewfinder, I could see it was awake and feeding.<\/p>\n

I don’t know the species of bumble bee, and the photos I took aren’t very helpful when it comes to me making an ID. Any identification help would be appreciated.<\/p>\n

Birds I know. Bumble bees? Not so much.<\/p>\n

It felt great to walk some of the side roads at the refuge yesterday with temperatures about 10 degrees lower than they\u2019ve been. This short break from the high temps was a welcome change.<\/p>\n

Life is<\/em> good.<\/p>\n
