\"MoonsetMoonset on the Summer Solstice<\/span><\/p>\n

Summer Solstice\u00a0was celebrated by many ancient\u00a0civilizations including the Greeks, Romans, Vikings, Mayans, Aztecs, Druids, Ancient Chinese and Native Americans.<\/p>\n

Celebrations and festivals were held\u00a0in many countries and still are today. Every year I feel something wonderful during the Summer Solstice.<\/p>\n

I took the photo above as the moon set and the sun rose while photographing on the Summer Solstice at Fort De Soto County Park’s north beach back in 2008.\u00a0\u00a0The pink, blue and purple washed clouds swirling in front of the moon felt nothing short of magical to me.<\/p>\n

I am going to celebrate this longest day of the year by realizing that from today forward the days will get shorter which means that in a\u00a0relatively short period of time I will be able to sleep until 3:34<\/span> am\u00a0instead of 3:30 am on days when I am going to the field to photograph.<\/p>\n

Yes, the thought of sleeping\u00a0four minutes longer in about two weeks time\u00a0is enough to make me dance in celebration.<\/p>\n

Happy Summer Solstice.<\/p>\n

Life is<\/em> good.<\/p>\n
