\"AdultAdult Burrowing Owl and the Great Salt Lake<\/span><\/p>\n

Burrowing Owls are one of my favorite subjects to photograph and to get one perched with the Great Salt Lake in the background was wonderful.<\/p>\n

This image was taken in August of 2010 as the adult watched over its young that were nearby.\u00a0 The adult Burrowing Owl even looks a little frazzled to me. Raising young seems to do that in more than one species of birds.<\/p>\n

The past few years it has been more difficult to get quality images of the Burrowing Owls<\/span><\/a> on Antelope Island State Park. That is due in part because the burrows seems further away from the road.<\/p>\n

Many of the owls are now banded or have telemetry units protruding from their backs and they seem far more skittish than they used to be.<\/p>\n

Life is<\/em> good.<\/p>\n
