I may be traveling again so because I am short on time to do up posts that will publish while I am away I thought I would do a sort of “throwback” to old posts that some of you might not have seen.<\/p>\n

Today I am focusing on older posts that have shorebirds in them starting with Black-bellied Plovers:<\/p>\n

Black-bellied Plover in beach habitat<\/strong><\/p>\n

This Black-bellied Plover was standing on a dunelet that wasn\u2019t much higher than the sand around it that had sparse short grasses which I found appealing.<\/p>\n

Dunlins in breeding and nonbreeding plumage<\/strong><\/p>\n

Dunlins exhibit\u00a0a vast difference between nonbreeding and breeding plumage, so different that a novice birder might mistakenly believe that they were two different species.<\/p>\n

Piping Plovers are small, sparrow sized shorebirds that are endangered and threatened in most of their range primarily due to human disturbance on their nesting grounds.<\/p>\n

I photographed this group of Greater Yellowlegs by kneeling in the water, bending forward and placing my elbows on the lagoon bottom to brace my arms and use them to steady my camera and lens.<\/p>\n
