Farmington Bay WMA is getting birdier each time I visit it because fall migration seems to be starting for many of the shorebirds.<\/p>\n

A few of the wading birds at Farmington are migratory but the Great Blue Herons found there are year round residents.<\/p>\n

They tough it out through high temperatures and low water due to drought in the summer, canyon winds in excess of 70 miles per hour and the extreme cold and deep snow of winter. They are tough birds.<\/p>\n

This Great Blue Heron landed briefly on a willow that was along the road at Farmington Bay<\/span><\/a> but before I could get my exposure set correctly it took flight.<\/p>\n

I was only able to get two frames where the heron was past another tree and this is one of them. Pretty prehistoric looking bird.<\/p>\n

Life is<\/em> good.<\/p>\n
