One of the first birds I photographed during recent Winter Storm Fern was an adult Red-shouldered Hawk in a tree across the street while it was snowing hard.<\/p>\n

I see Red-shouldered Hawks frequently here; I\u2019m just not always able to photograph them because they can be skittish in the neighborhood. There is also a pair of Red-tailed Hawks, and the two species seem to have a territorial thing going on.<\/p>\n

I’m always trying to take more photos of the Red-shouldered Hawks because I didn’t see them while I lived in Utah. I missed these hawks, missed hearing<\/span><\/a> them, and missed having them in my viewfinder there.<\/p>\n

Having this adult Red-shouldered Hawk in my viewfinder yesterday during the snowstorm made me happy. She or he didn\u2019t stay long really, just long enough for me to take about fifty photos of them before they flew off.<\/p>\n

Through my window, I also saw my first Eastern Towhee since leaving Florida in 2009. I didn’t get any images of the Eastern Towhee because he was super skittish, but I was thrilled to see one again.<\/p>\n

I have more bird photos taken during Winter Storm Fern to come. I just need to process them!<\/p>\n

Life is<\/em> good.<\/p>\n
