The junco was waiting his turn to feed.<\/p>\n<p>I had tossed out some small suet balls for the birds to eat because it was bitter cold and suet is high protein.<\/p>\n<p>Even though I was bundled up in multiple layers and sitting in my camping chair on the porch, I didn&#8217;t last long in the deep freeze before I had to go back inside to get warm.<\/p>\n<p>I can only imagine how cold all the birds were.<\/p>\n<p>The Dark-eyed Juncos were the most numerous birds I saw that snowy day, with the White-throated Sparrows in second.<\/p>\n<p>Here it is, a week later. The temp this morning is a mere 22\u00b0F. There is still a layer of ice covered snow on the ground here. Tomorrow the snow should finally disappear because the high is going to be around 60\u00b0F.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m ready for warmer temps.
