Today I’m sharing a simple photo of a hen Ring-necked Duck swimming on Lower Scarborough Slough taken yesterday at Sequoyah National Wildlife Refuge in Oklahoma.<\/p>\n

I’ve been seeing high numbers of Ring-necked Ducks at the refuge at Lower Scarborough and Four Corner Sloughs for several weeks now. Ring-necked Ducks do not breed here in Oklahoma, but we do have them visit during their nonbreeding season.<\/p>\n

What I liked about this photo was the hen’s head turn, the eye contact, the silky water, the bow wave, and trailing ripples in the water. One other thing is that the two tiny dark spots above my copyright watermark are actually some kind of flying insects.<\/p>\n

I would have enjoyed photographing this hen Ring-necked Duck<\/span><\/a> up even closer, but I was glad to have her in my viewfinder all the same.<\/p>\n

Life is<\/em> good.<\/p>\n
