On my last visit to Sequoyah National Wildlife Refuge, I was tickled to have a grooming Swamp Rabbit in my viewfinder up near the Arkansas River in the early morning.<\/p>\n

I used to see a Swamp Rabbit in this same area often last year, but have only started seeing this one in the past month or so. I’m glad to see it.<\/p>\n

Swamp Rabbits are large cottontail rabbits, have a strong preference for wet areas, and they will take to the water and swim. The refuge has plenty of the habitat they prefer in the bottomlands, which is probably why they are found there.<\/p>\n

This Swamp Rabbit<\/span><\/a> was feeding on the grasses when I drove up in my Jeep. After I turned off the engine and started photographing the rabbit, they started to groom their fur.<\/p>\n

I sure liked this grooming pose. The rabbit did have a small tick in their left ear.<\/p>\n

Last week, when I found the Swamp Rabbit in the same area, I was able to take a video of them eating forbs and grasses.<\/p>\n
