A few days ago a Western Grebe popped up from under the water very close to me and I was able to take a quick series of portraits of it before it moved away.<\/p>\n

I like this Western Grebe portrait because of the detail it shows and because portraits lend a sense of intimacy that can some times be lacking in other images. That cherry red eye sure stands out!<\/p>\n

This grebe is not in full breeding plumage, it is going into nonbreeding plumage.<\/p>\n

This image was taken from the auto tour route at the Bear River Migratory Bird Refuge<\/span><\/a>.<\/p>\n

Life is<\/em> good.<\/p>\n
