This American White Pelican image was taken in July near the auto tour loop at Bear River Migratory Bird Refuge<\/span><\/a> and I like how it shows the pelican fishing for food.<\/p>\n

I remember seeing American White Pelicans during the winter in Florida but they were harder for me to approach and photograph there than they are here during the breeding season in Utah.<\/p>\n

I saw a few of them when I was in Montana recently at Red Rock Lakes National Wildlife Refuge<\/span><\/a> too but not nearly as many as I had seen up there during the breeding season.<\/p>\n

On another note, an article published this week called “A Lens on Nature Four Ace Photographers and the Wildlife Refuges They Love<\/span><\/a>” has some some of my images published in the article and it shares some of my thoughts about photographing at Utah’s Bear River Migratory Bird refuge.<\/p>\n
