I believe that the first shorebirds I ever noticed as a very young girl were Killdeer and I think I noticed them mostly because they were so noisy. They hung around parking lots and I’d find them quite in fields and pastures. They sure got my attention.<\/p>\n

This time of the year our Killdeer population seems to explode because the birds that nested further north are migrating into the area. I photographed this Killdeer two weeks ago at Farmington Bay WMA and liked the fall colors in the background and the bird’s muddy bill.<\/p>\n

The great news is that I finally have my camera back in my hands and I am anxious to get back out into the field. I’m so happy I could dance!<\/p>\n
