I took these Least Sandpiper images last month on the same day that I photographed the more rare Pectoral Sandpiper<\/span><\/a> and just hadn’t processed these files.<\/p>\n

The only time I see Least Sandpipers here in Utah is when they are migrating through the Great Basin hub of the Pacific Flyway.<\/p>\n

Thee sandpipers stop on route to their wintering grounds to fuel up for the rest of their journey.<\/p>\n

Least Sandpipers are the smallest shorebird in the world. They are tiny but tough. This one was doing a very nice stretch on a pile of mud next to the marsh.<\/p>\n

I would have loved better light and I would have loved getting down on the ground to get a very low angle shot but getting out of the vehicle would have scared this little beauty away.<\/p>\n

Life is<\/em> good.<\/p>\n
