I was happy yesterday to take this image of an immature White-crowned Sparrow perched with wild rose hips in the frame too. It was a clear morning so I had lovely light on the young sparrow.<\/p>\n

This young White-crowned Sparrow was hatched earlier this year and by next summer will look like the adults do as I mentioned in this post here<\/span><\/a>.<\/p>\n

There are only a few wild rose bushes at Farmington Bay WMA<\/span><\/a> and this time of the year I always look for sparrows in the bushes. The background in this frame is out of focus cattails and\/or phragmites that have dried up. I don’t believe the White-crowned Sparrows eat the rose hips but other birds like Cedar Waxwings do.<\/p>\n

I only photographed the White-crowned Sparrows on the wild rose for one minute but they were worth stopping for. But I believe that all birds are worth stopping for.<\/p>\n
