My favorite image from photographing yesterday at Farmington Bay WMA<\/span><\/a> is this high key Northern Flicker image taken near Glover’s Pond. Glover’s Pond is on the west side of Glover’s Lane not far from the old Great Salt Lake Nature Center.<\/p>\n

The pond was frozen over yesterday and the ice was covered in snow and that snow is what is behind the flicker and gave this image the high key appearance.\u00a0 I didn’t get many images of the male Northern Flicker because someone drove up from behind and the flicker got nervous and flew into a Russian Olive for cover so I didn’t have time to try different exposure settings while photographing the flicker.<\/p>\n

I don’t often get close to Northern Flickers so I always appreciate each encounter with them where I can get close enough to get frame filling images of them. Northern Flickers are year round residents in much of the continental U.S..<\/p>\n
