It has been kind of a crazy week, I spent a lot of it trying to pin down an issue where people in the Utah area using Comcast weren’t able to access my site or if they could they weren’t seeing all of the images. I found the problem and finally fixed that yesterday morning and breathed a sigh of relief. Things were back to normal.<\/p>\n

Then 2:00 pm rolled around and the server went down. When I checked into the matter I found that it was a global outage which meant every site on the hosting provider was affected because of a router update they made that affected networking. The server was down for just about 12 hours total but it is back up and running now. Some customers are still waiting for their servers to go back on line so I feel fortunate to have woken up this morning to seeing my server working. It could be worse.<\/p>\n

So, onto my photo subject this morning…<\/p>\n

I photographed this Green Heron at Sawgrass Lake Park<\/span><\/a> in Pinellas County, Florida with my first DSLR, a Nikon D70, when I was just getting into bird photography. I didn’t have a long lens back then, just a Nikkor 70-300mm VR, but because the birds were acclimated to human presence they weren’t all that skittish and allowed close approaches without stressing the birds.<\/p>\n

When I saw this Green Heron I was on a boardwalk above the heron and I wanted a lower angle so I laid down on the boardwalk to photograph it through the slats. I did get a few odd looks from other people that walked past me as I photographed the heron but truthfully I didn’t care.\u00a0 Laying down worked, that was all I cared about at the time.<\/p>\n

Green Herons do show up here in Utah from time to time and I hope that one day I will get another opportunity to photograph these beautiful herons with their chestnut and velvety green plumage.<\/p>\n

Life is<\/em> good.<\/p>\n
