It has been a wet spring here in northern Utah and because of that there are fields and huge swaths of land covered in green grasses and green weeds in the Salt Lake Valley. They seem so lush compared to later in the year when things dry out from the intense summer heat.<\/p>\n

I get excited when I have the chance to photograph birds in front of green fields. It might seem silly to people in other parts of the country for me to be excited about fields green but I do live in a desert and that means the “green” does not last long outside of the irrigated, sterile, blue grass lawns found in the cities and towns.<\/p>\n

Last week I photographed this adult Burrowing Owl in front of a green field in the bright morning light and loved the contrast between the warm tones of the owl’s plumage and the deep greens in the background.<\/p>\n

It is a simple image yet the soothing green tones in the background make this photo very pleasing to my eyes.<\/p>\n

I just can’t take the color green for granted while living in a desert.<\/p>\n

Life is<\/em> good.<\/p>\n
