When I lived in Florida one of the things I missed was having four seasons, we basically had hot, hotter, hurricanes and about 4 weeks of cooler weather. While I lived there I missed Autumn’s colors.<\/p>\n

Here in Utah I do see the colors of Autumn in the golds of aspens, cottonwoods and poplars, and the reds of oaks on the hillsides. The rabbitbrush blooms in the autumn and shows off its bright yellow blooms. The fall colors are beautiful to my eyes and I appreciate them all.<\/p>\n

Last week while photographing birds in northern Utah I saw a wild rose whose leaves and rose hips had turned a brilliant scarlet color for fall. As I photographed the rose, I kept wishing that a bird would land on the wild rose but when the birds didn’t use it as a perch I felt I had to photograph this wild rose anyway.<\/p>\n

I don’t know which species of rose this is or whether it is native or introduced so next spring I will photograph it when it is blooming to try to determine which species it is, until then I now have this image of its scarlet red leaves glowing in the light of early morning.<\/p>\n

I know, it isn’t a bird and I am a bird photographer but sometimes I have to focus on the other amazing things I see in the natural world.<\/p>\n

Life is<\/em> good.<\/p>\n
