{"id":52390,"date":"2018-06-02T05:12:04","date_gmt":"2018-06-02T11:12:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.onthewingphotography.com\/wings\/?p=52390"},"modified":"2024-02-26T06:57:11","modified_gmt":"2024-02-26T13:57:11","slug":"photographing-nesting-house-wrens-in-the-high-uintas","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.onthewingphotography.com\/wings\/2018\/06\/02\/photographing-nesting-house-wrens-in-the-high-uintas\/","title":{"rendered":"Photographing Nesting House Wrens in the High Uintas"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Two days ago I spent time photographing nesting House Wrens in the <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Uinta_Mountains\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">high Uintas<\/span> <\/a>near Mirror Lake Highway, of interest to me is that two years ago I photographed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.onthewingphotography.com\/wings\/2016\/06\/29\/red-naped-sapsuckers-feeding-chicks-at-a-nesting-cavity-in-the-uintas\/\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Red-naped Sapsuckers using this same nesting cavity<\/span><\/a>. Nikon D500, f7.1, 1\/1000, ISO 500, Nikkor 500mm VR with 1.4x TC, natural light<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The light fell softly on the nesting tree and I was able to take several nice photos of the wrens at the opening. Oh well. I loved the photos I took of the wren at the opening of it nest with the yellow flower in its bill anyway. Wouldn&#8217;t you know that a big truck lumbered by right about the time the wren was going to enter the nest and the noise made the wren fly off? That is just one of the frustrations of being a bird photographer, bad timing.<\/p>\n<p>Still I was delighted to have found these nesting House Wren in the high Uintas.<\/p>\n<p>Life <em>is<\/em>
