Daytime temperatures have cooled off, mornings are chilly, the leaves on trees have changed colors, and I can see that the mountains to the east are now snow-capped when I walk out my door.<\/p>\n

I can now enjoy autumn in the valley and a touch of winter in the high country. How lucky am I?<\/p>\n

It has been wonderful to have my windows open again and enjoy fresh, cool air. But I like having my windows open for another reason: with them open, I can hear the sounds of autumn on the wing.<\/p>\n

During the summer, I don’t hear Canada Geese here at home. But when fall arrives, hearing them calling is an auditory joy for me.<\/p>\n

I know they are abundant and can be pests, but I can’t listen to them without feeling happiness. I guess when you have been around them your whole life, it can become easy to take them for granted, but I haven’t.<\/p>\n

I’ve lived in many locations during my lifetime where I didn’t see or hear Canada Geese at all, so I don’t take them for granted; I celebrate their calls.<\/p>\n

I hope that I will always be thrilled to hear Canada Geese honking as they fly overhead singly or in their V formations.<\/p>\n

Life is<\/em> good.<\/p>\n
