One year ago today I photographed this adult White-crowned Sparrow<\/span><\/a> perched in a red branched bush at the gate to Farmington Bay WMA.<\/p>\n

I like the red branches, the pose of the sparrow, the eye contact I had with it, the light and the lovely feather details, what I didn’t like was that the rusty color in the background was created by shingles on a roof.<\/p>\n

The more I look at this image though the more I like it despite knowing that the color in the background is from those shingles.<\/p>\n

Birds go where they want to go, they aren’t high paid models strutting on a catwalk in Paris, Milan, or New York and just because this White-crowned Sparrow chose to perch in front of a house shouldn’t mean that I should ignore it or not even raise my camera for it.<\/p>\n

The weather has kept me away from the field a lot lately, birds have been harder than normal to locate and photograph . I think that if I don’t get out and beyond my local pond pretty soon that I will be suffering from withdrawals or a severe case of cabin fever.<\/p>\n

The radar\/satellite map looks bad again this morning but who knows of it is really accurate or not, the maps I check are just as often wrong as they are right at this time of the year. I do know one thing for certain… I am itching to get back out into the field. I do like knowing that the sun was actually shining one year ago today.<\/p>\n

Life is<\/em> good.<\/p>\n
